South Carolina House of Representatives member Tommy Pope (District 47) was recognized by the American Legion Department of SC as their Outstanding Legislator of the Year. The award was presented to Rep. Pope on February 21 at a State House ceremony prior to the General Assembly session.
The annual award is given to one House member and to one Senate member. Senator Jake Knotts of Lexington (District 23) was selected as the outstanding Senate member. Pope and Knotts were recognized for their many years of outstanding service to their community, state and nation. The award was presented by American Legion National Commander Fang A. Wong, who appeared before the General Assembly to give his annual address.
“It is humbling to be honored by those who have given so much to this country. My contributions pale in comparison to their deeds of service,” said Pope.
Rep. Pope represents District 47 which is comprised of Clover, Lake Wylie and parts of western York. He is also a managing partner with Elrod Pope Accident & Injury Attorneys in Rock Hill.
